Houseplants typically need repotting when they are either pot bound, showing signs of stress or the compost has broken down causing too much moisture to be held. Repotting is best carried out in the spring or early summer.

Potting on

First ensure that the plant to be potted on has been well-watered. If it is dry, immerse the roots in water (preferably rainwater) for a few minutes
Fill the pot, tub or other container with SylvaGrow Houseplant Compost
Make a hole large enough to accommodate the plant to be potted and insert it, taking care that the growing medium is at about the same level on the stem as previously potted
Gently firm the SylvaGrow Houseplant Compost around the rootball without compacting it and water thoroughly
For a perfect finishing touch, top the surface with 1-1.5cm layer of Melcourt Horticultural Potting or Coarse Grit
After-care

Ensure that the SylvaGrow Houseplant Compost is kept moist but not over-wet, at all times
After 4-6 weeks, regularly apply a proprietary liquid feed during the spring and summer months, following the manufacturer's instructions
Alternatively incorporate slow-release fertiliser granules according to the manufacturer's instructions, at the time of potting
