An indoor orchid is typically ready to be repotted when it has been in the pot for a couple of years or when its roots become crowded and are starting to push the plant out of its pot.

Potting on

The best time to repot is in the spring or early summer when the orchid is actively growing
Soak an appropriate amount of SylvaGrow Orchid in water for half an hour to get it fully hydrated
Remove the orchid from its pot and gently tease out the roots to remove the old bark, taking care not to damage the roots, which can easily break
Snip off any dead or brown roots
Put a thin layer of SylvaGrow Orchid at the base of the pot then place the orchid, taking care to spread the roots out. Gradually fill around the roots with SylvaGrow Orchid, tapping the pot to settle the level and ensuring that the top of the compost is at the same level as previously potted.
Water the repotted orchid thoroughly but always ensure that all excess water has drained away
Caring for the repotted orchid

Position the orchid in a well-lit place out of direct sunlight
Watering will typically be required every 2 - 3 weeks in the spring and summer months. Ensure the bark compost is thoroughly wetted by immersing the pot for a few minutes if necessary, but allow all free water to drain away
Regularly apply a proprietary liquid feed throughout the spring and summer months according to the manufacturer's instructions
Reduce watering and feeding in the late autumn and winter months
